Agata Kaczmarska captured gold in the 80 kg category with a split-decision victory over India’s Nupur Sheoran, becoming world champion and rising to the top of the BoxRec world rankings in women’s heavyweight boxing, according to Polish sports website sportowefakty.wp.pl.

But the 80 kg class is not contested at the Olympics. To compete in Los Angeles, she will need to drop to 75 kg, the heaviest women’s division on the Olympic schedule.

The 27-year-old said she is ready to take on the challenge and fight for an Olympic medal in Los Angeles, Polish broadcaster TVP Sport reported.

Team Poland also returned with two silver medals from the 2025 World Boxing Championships in Liverpool.

Aneta Rygielska took second place in the 60 kg class, which she called the highlight of her career.

Talking to reporters afterward, Rygielska pledged to push for the podium in Los Angeles after missing out in Paris in 2024, Poland's Przegląd Sportowy sports newspaper reported.

Julia Szeremeta added silver in the 57 kg category to the Olympic silver she won in Paris last year.

Fighting with what her team described as a serious right-hand injury, she lost her final to India’s Jaismine Lamboria by a 1-4 decision.
